Local law enforcement are keeping a watchful eye out for campfires.
As fire season rages on, authorities are doing their due diligence to protect the region from worse wildfires. Now, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Flagstaff Police Department will use air patrols during the early morning and evening hours.
These patrols make it possible for officers to spot campfires and other possibly illegal activity quickly. First responders will also be able to better locate and ultimately respond to any potential fires. These measures are set to continue until the threat of a wildfire is minimal or the fire bans are lifted.
Woods Watch Volunteers are also stepping up to the plate, spending time on the ground as they watch out for possible wildfires and suspicious activity.
