Illinois Park Struggles With Canada Geese

A local park in Moline, Illinois has been overtaken by Canada geese, and many residents are not pleased.

Although these animals are beautiful, in large numbers they can easily wreak havoc on a public space like Ben Butterworth Parkway. Members of the public say the geese often leave behind a big mess, and although the city put up a white fence in an effort to stop geese from waddling onto the land from the nearby water, it hasn’t solved the problem entirely

While some geese have turned away once they encountered the fence, some community members say it’s not enough. One resident even made light of the situation by posting a political statement on a sign that says: “Forget the Fence, build a Wall. Make Canada pay for it.”

It’s a humorous way of poking fun at the Moline government and President Trump as the community continues to search for a better solution to keep goose gunk out of the park for good.
