If you’re in the market for home decor, kitchenware, furniture, or gifts, considering heading to HomeGoods. Not only will you find what you need and want, but you’ll also make a great difference in the fight against cancer.
Now through Wednesday, June 28, shoppers at the off-price home fashions retailer will have the chance to support cancer care and research as part of the 16th annual “Help Families Fight Cancer” campaign. Funds raised benefits the Jimmy Fund, which supports important, potentially life-changing pediatric and adult cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
Across the nation, more than 415 stores are participating in the fundraising, which is very simple for interested customers. At the register, patrons can make a contribution to “Help Families Fight Cancer,” and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Jimmy Fund.
Jimmy Fund patients Evan Yu, a 17-year-old junior at Brookline High School in Boston, and Aishah Alyammahi, a 15-year-old from the United Arab Emirates created artwork that is now featured on limited edition reusable shopping bags. These designs will be available to purchase for $0.99 at HomeGoods throughout the campaign, and HomeGoods will donate $0.50 to the Jimmy Fund for each purchase.
Evan’s design is a colorful green and blue bag with an ocean scene, featuring fish and coral. He is bravely battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and he completed his active treatment at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic earlier this year. Aishah’s bag is bright, with blue, purple and pink flowers creating a happy spring theme. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, she went to the Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic for treatment.
HomeGoods’ support of patient care and innovative research has raised millions of dollars for the Jimmy Fund in their search for cancer cures.
The Jimmy Fund solely supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and raises funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research in an effort to improve the chances of survival for patients across the globe. Since 1948, the generosity of millions of donors has helped the Jimmy Fund save numerous lives and reduce the burden of cancer for patients and families throughout the world. The Jimmy Fund is also the official charity of the Boston Red Sox, Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, and the Variety Children’s Charity of New England.
