On Thursday night, one of the most popular movie theatres in town hosted a grand opening for it’s new, renovated multiplex.
Harkins Flagstaff 16, one of thirty the company owns and operates in the Southwest, is ready to wow moviegoers with an array of expanded amenities.
In the new complex, there is a larger snack bar and guest services desk, automated ticket purchases kiosks, and sixteen curved wall-to-wall screens with state of the art digital laser projectors for a high-quality movie experience. There are also wider seats throughout the theatres and plush ultimate rocker recliner chairs in the front row for a relaxing, comfortable time.
The new complex is located at The Marketplace at Flagstaff Mall. It replaces the Harkins 11 building on Woodlands Village Boulevard, which closed permanently this past week.
On Thursday, owner Dan Harkins cut the ribbon at the new complex, officially opening the theatre for everyone. Throughout the grand opening weekend, moviegoers have the chance to participate in various events and win great prizes.
Each day, the first 100 ticket holders will receive a free 2017 Harkins Loyalty Cup, and moviegoers will receive a scratch and win game card. Every card is a winner, with chances to win free concessions, movie collectibles and Harkins Gift Cards. One lucky winner will even attain the grand prize of a year’s worth of free movies!

In spring 2017, the Cine1 Auditorium is expected to open at Harkins, which will feature an extra-large screen, 3D object-based sound, and a full seating arrangement of leather reclining lounge seats.
The new concession stand is considered gourmet, with a variety of options on the menu, including hot food such as Oreo churros, Nathan’s Famous mini corn dogs, White Castle cheeseburgers and much more.
