The Rotary Club of Tempe Rio Salado and Camelback Crossroads regret to announce the postponement of their upcoming fundraising event, The Great Tempe Bike Race. We will be issuing refunds today, it may take 4-5 days for Eventbrite to process.
The purpose of the event was to raise funds to plant 30 trees in Tempe, and with lower-than-planned registration numbers, the club decided to postpone the event until 2018.
“We felt it was in the best interest for everyone involved to focus our efforts on raising funds in alternative ways towards planting more trees in the city of Tempe,” added Camelback Crossroads Chair, Serena Christianson.
The Rotary Club is moving forward on its plan to plant trees, as well as reschedule The Great Tempe Bike Race to a later date in 2018. The volunteer group has partnered with the City of Tempe and Trees Matter, a local non-profit that specializes in tree planting projects, to plant the 30 trees throughout Tempe.
The 30 trees will be planted in and around Tempe in public spaces. Each tree will cost approximately $50. Additional costs will include tools, equipment, soil, refreshments, coordination support and potentially the rental of water trucks. The Rotary Club has scheduled this tree planting project for later this fall and are coordinating with the City of Tempe to locate the best placement for these 30 trees.
The tree planting will occur in November 2017 throughout Tempe. Interested donors and volunteers for this project can contact Serena Christianson at [email protected].
We appreciate your support, and apologize for the inconvenience.
