Giant Inflatable Art Arrives in Mesa

Have you looked around downtown Mesa lately? It’s hard to miss the giant inflatable art displays popping up around Main Street.

These ailen-like displays will remain in place until May 13. Many residents and visitors have been enjoying the extraterrestrial sights. These humanoids are large and impressive parts of Fantastic Planet, a temporary art exhibit created by Australian artist Amanda Parer, who explained the inspiration for her work in a written statement:

“These giants from afar will give audiences the impression that they have just landed and are quietly and gently exploring our ‘fantastic planet’,”

The sculptures can be found at a variety of venues in Mesa, such as the Federal Building, Mesa Arts Center and i.d.e.a. Museum.
