High school students and their parents are encouraged to attend a free College Connect workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Rd.
The February workshop has been titled What’s Next? Part 1 and will focus on a variety of topics including Success with Scholarships and Test Prep 101. There will be a special breakout session for High School Seniors covering what to do now that you have been accepted to college, as well as one for parents featuring the transition from high school to college.
Students attending each workshop will be entered in a drawing to win a $250 scholarship. Five scholarships will be awarded from the Ramsey Social Justice Foundation at the completion of the College Connect workshop series in April 2017.
The City of Tempe has partnered with Tempe Union High School District, Tempe Elementary School District, ASU, Grand Canyon University, Mesa Community College, Northern Arizona University, Rio Salado College, South Mountain Community College, University of Advancing Technology and University of Arizona to create College Connect. The community-based program has been specifically designed to assist young people in fulfilling their dreams of a post-secondary education.
