Free Active Shooter Public Awareness Class

Glendale, Ariz. — Councilmember Lauren Tolmachoff of the Cholla District and Councilmember Raymond Malnar of the Sahuaro District have teamed up with the Glendale Police Department to offer a unique safety class for all Glendale residents. The ā€œResponse to an Active Shooter Public Awarenessā€ class will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 in the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Centerā€™s Coyote room. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the one-hour presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. and questions to follow.

The class will cover a variety of response procedures and early violence indicators and attendees will learn about ways to better-protect themselves in a public setting. They will also learn about when they should report suspicious behavior.

The expert presenter is Sergeant Wence Arevalo, who is a 22-year veteran of the Glendale Police Department and has held a variety of positions within the Special Operations Division. Sgt. Arevalo is a national speaker and educator on the issue of responses to situations involving an active shooter.
