Nominees for the U.S. Presidential Scholars were recently announced, and the Tucson area has reason to celebrate.
Four out of the five nominees from the state attend high school in Tucson. The U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education program announced the nominees this month, highlighting the diverse and talented population of students throughout Tucson.
The nominees include Lindsay Hoel of Canyon del Oro High School, Tia Hunt and Mara Steeber of Mountain View High School, and Joseph Olague of Desert View High School. They are joined by Victoria Bate of Higley High School in Gilbert.
Selected based on their stellar academic and extracurricular performance, these five students will represent Arizona in a nationwide program, and twenty out of 45 finalists will be chosen next month.
The program honors these high school students who have consistently demonstrated excellence and determination in career and technical education fields.
