The El Zaribah Shrine will host it’s 25th Annunal CornFest this upcoming weekend, promising lots of fun for the entire family.

Guests can expect a unique combination of clowns, crafts and corn at this old-fashioned good time, held at the El Zaribah Shrine and benefiting the El Zaribah Shriners.

This event is a great way for community members to get to know their local Shriners chapter. It’s the perfect way to kick off a busy time for the Shriners, as the Shrine Circus will take place September 9th, 10th and 11th.

Jim Hoover is the CornFest chairman and Chief of Staff for the El Zaribah Shriners. He said these special events exemplify El Zaribah’s focus on families and community.

“Years ago, they were a wild and crazy, fun-loving bunch that maybe imbibed a bit too much at times. Well, the Shriners have toned down quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong, we still have a good time,” Hoover said. “It used to be more primarily men. We’ve really opened it up to families. It’s a family affair.”

When: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, August 20. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, August 21.

Admission: Free admission.
Food tickets $9 in advance, $10 at the door and $6 for kids under 8. Sweet corn $6 for half-dozen and $12 for dozen.

Visitors can expect plenty of delicious food options, including hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, kettle corn, fudge and root beer floats, chips and ice tea. Keeping with the theme, guests can take sweet corn home by the dozen! Over 60 arts and crafts vendors will be there, selling a variety of items, including but not limited to decorative boxes, wind chimes, soaps, lotions, pocket knives and handmade clothing and jewelry. There will also be an outdoor dunk tank, and guests will have the chance to dunk members of the Board of Directors! Children will enjoy volunteer clowns, balloon animals, face painting and musical performances from the drum and bugle corps.
