It’s the time of year where generosity thrives and no example of that is more poignant than the community’s support of Duet at the recent 27th annual Poinsettia Tea. The Dec. 10 event raised nearly $105,000 net income for the nonprofit’s mission to promote health and well-being within the community.
During the Poinsettia Tea, which took place at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale at Gainey Ranch, guests enjoyed tea, sandwiches and sweets while listening to the festive sounds of the North Valley Chorale. Destry Jetton, Arizona Midday host and executive producer for Channel 12, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. During the celebration, the Dosia Carlson KARED About Award was presented Dr. Wilma Basnett Emerson, who served as superintendent of the Osborn School District for 26 years and volunteers with a variety of local organizations. Dr. Basnett Emerson currently serves on Duet’s board of directors and has provided the nonprofit with strategic leadership for many years.
“We’d like to thank our supporters for their generous contributions at the Poinsettia Tea,” said Elizabeth Banta, executive director. “All proceeds raised from the Poinsettia Tea will support Duet’s health and aging services that are provided free-of-charge for family caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, homebound adults and faith communities.”
SRP and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona were Gold Sponsors of the event.
