PHOENIX – The 5th annual Tackle Trauma 5k Run and Walk returns to Papago Park in Tempe on Sunday, February 3rd. Join hundreds of medical professionals and community members as they help the Arizona Trauma Association (ATA) raise awareness about trauma. Trauma centers are highly specialized units within hospitals that provide multidisciplinary care for patients with life-threatening injuries.
Trauma is the leading cause of death for children and adults up to the age of 44 and the fourth overall cause of death in the country. Traumatic injuries can occur from car crashes or by falling from a ladder. Proceeds from this event aim to change that and are allocated to the ATA’s four initiatives including education, research, injury prevention and a “Stop the Bleed” program that provides lifesaving training throughout the state.
“Trauma injuries are so prevalent in our state and across the country,” said Alicia Mangram, MD, FACS of the ATA. “Our goal with this event is to bring the community together in a positive way that can benefit those affected by it.”
