Northern Arizona was pummeled by the Goodwin Fire earlier this summer, and while recent rains are helping, there is a lot more healing and recovery left to do.
Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate as the blaze closed in on their communities, and the damage goes far beyond just properties and structures. One woman lost her life fleeing the blaze. Karla Livingston was following orders to leave her home when she was involved in a multi-car rollover crash, in which she sustained injuries that took her life.
The community came together to raise funds for her funeral, and now another GoFundMe campaign has been set up to collect donations for supplies, evacuees, and people affected by the wildfire.
According to the GoFundMe campaign published two weeks ago: “The massive Goodwin Fire continues to grow as its flames relentlessly consume dry fuel in the Prescott National Forest. I have friends and family in the area who have had to evacuate. Structures have been lost. Please find it in your hearts to donate to help families in need of food and water as well as animals in need of shelter. The money will be delivered to the relief services that Arizona is providing for the Goodwin Fire.”
