TEMPE, Arizona – by Sean Donovan
Business of all sizes can easily move toward sustainability with a new program from the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.
The Pledge for a Sustainable Community is a comprehensive on-line resource and planning tool developed to help businesses take steps in reducing water, energy and waste; and develop sustainable purchasing and travel programs. The program is offered at no cost to all businesses throughout the state at https://tempe.pledge.green.
“Whether you can only commit to turning the lights out when you leave the room, or you have a designated committee that does an annual environmental audit, every single business can make a step toward sustainability,” said Mary Ann Miller, Tempe Chamber President/CEO. “This will show you how.
The Pledge for a Sustainable Community offers practical ideas for businesses at the beginning, intermediate and advanced stage of reducing their footprint. Individual pages focus on conserving energy, saving water, reducing waste, limiting purchases, and consolidating travel. Links to further resources in all these areas are also provided.
All businesses are welcome and encouraged to take the Pledge to commit to sustainable practices and be listed in the on-line Pledge Member directory. The program provides the opportunity for businesses to tell their own story and share best practices with their staff members, their peers and their customers.
“Our aim is to help make businesses and the communities in which they operate more resilient and sustainable,” Miller added.
