The City of Tempe has joined forces with State Farm to present the 6th annual Geeks Night Out from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at the Tempe Community Complex, southwest corner of Southern Ave. and Rural Rd.
Tempe’s Geeks Night Out is an Arizona Sci-Tech Festival signature event. This fusion of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) is an experience not to be missed. Enthusiasts and Geeks of all ages are invited to Discover the Science at this free, family-friendly event.
“The Geeks Night Out platform brings Tempe students, companies and the community together to Discover the Science in everyday things,” stated Tempe Vice-Mayor Robin Arredondo-Savage. “This is a unique opportunity for Tempe to showcase what’s happening right now in our classrooms and businesses.”
Enjoy a variety of interactive STEAM displays and hands-on activities hosted by students from local Tempe elementary, middle and high schools, colleges and universities, community organizations, City departments, as well as the local business sector.
“State Farm collaborates with companies, education institutions and the community to inspire children’s interest in STEM at a young age, which will strengthen the overall STEM talent pool,” stated State Farm spokesperson Naomi Johnson. “We are excited to be a part of Geeks Night Out.”
There will be live music and entertainment, as well as the annual Phoenix Comicon costume parade and contest.
United Food Bank will be showcasing the science behind how they distribute food to thousands of Arizonans. If you would like to help their cause, please bring can food items to Geeks Night Out and you will be entered into a raffle to win Angels Spring Training tickets.
