Crash on Tucson’s Southeast Side Closes Houghton Road

A terrifying traffic collision has shut down a busy stretch of road in Tucson on Friday morning.

The head-on crash occurred on Houghton Road on the city’s southeast side. An adult female driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Banner University Medical Center. The other driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other passengers in the vehicles at the time of the incident.

Following the crash, a section of Houghton Road was closed in both directions between Andrada Road and Dawn Road, south of I-10. Tucson Police Department officials have been encouraging motorists to use an alternate route such as Wentworth Road to travel north & south in this part of town.

Officials are continuing their investigation into the incident
