Connecticut Mom Pleads For Return of Stolen Necklace With Baby’s Ashes

A Connecticut woman has been left heartbroken after a very special necklace containing her son’s ashes was stolen along with her purse.
On a recent Saturday night, LeAnn Winn from South Windsor decided to catch up with her best friend for a drink at a bar in nearby Hartford. The single mothers just wanted to have a fun night out and spend some time together, with their kids safely at home with babysitters.
Winn left her purse inside her friend’s car and they locked the doors as they went inside the establishment. When they returned to the car that evening, they were shocked to discover one of the windows had been smashed in. Winn’s purse, as well as some of her friend’s possessions, were no where to be seen.
Although losing her purse was bad, what made the situation even worse was that inside the handbag was a silver necklace with the ashes of her 3-month-old-son, Jayden Xavier Winn, who passed away in 2009.
Winn said that initially, she didn’t recall taking off her necklace and storing it in her handbag for safe-keeping. However, the next morning, she remembered and was devastated. She rushed back to the bar and searched the area, but nobody had seen her necklace. She then took to Facebook, posting her story in hopes that someone would come forward.

“I am heartbroken and devastated that a part of my baby is out there somewhere and not with someone who loves [and] misses him,” Winn wrote on Facebook. “I just pray [this] reaches the eye of the ones who were involved and they can lead anyone they feel comfortable with to my baby. I do not care about any other belongings that were taken. I forgive who ever did this I just wont be whole again until he is back with me.”

Winn has also spoken to television stations throughout the country about the ordeal. She also has a 9-year-old son, the twin of the baby who passed away, and a 14-year-old daughter.
