Community Raises Funds for Pregnant Hit-and-Run Victim

People in Glendale and surrounding valley communities are lending a hand to help a grieving family, devastated after the hit-and-run death of their pregnant daughter.

24-year-old Lori Gates was struck and killed early in the morning of April 24 in Glendale, near the intersection of 55th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The driver did not stop, instead leaving Lori there to die.

Lori leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter, and she was four months pregnant with her second child at the time of her death.

Glendale police are continuing their investigation but have not yet made any arrests. A few hours after she was hit, a Lyft driver spotted Lori clinging to life on the side of the road.

A GoFundMe account was set up to collect donations for Lori’s funeral expenses and her heartbroken daughter. The description on the fundraising page describes Lori’s too-short life.

On Tuesday April 24, Lori Gates who was four months pregnant was victim of a hit and run. Lori was a wonderful person with a beautiful smile and a big heart who was willing to help anyone at anytime. She leaves behind a beautiful 3yr old girl name Victoria, her heart will forever be broken knowing her mommy will not be coming home. I ask all family, friends and anyone who see this post from the bottom of their heart to please donate to help for her funeral and any extra will be for her daughter.

Several car washes raised funds as well. If you would like to make a difference in the lives of this grieving family, please visit the GoFundMe page here.
