The Centers for Habilitation (TCH) is celebrating fifty years of changing lives, and they are in the running for a significant $10,000 grant!
The local nonprofit organization that provides essential services for those with disabilities is a finalist in the Phoenix Business Journal’s “Phoenix Stories” Grant competition. They could win a $10,000 grant that will go a long way in helping them fulfill their mission of finding creative and innovative ways to provide hope and purpose for individuals with disabilities.
Based in Tempe, the organization has an employee development program that helps men and women with disabilities attain the skills they need for greater employability and future success. That’s where Bart, the star of TCH’s story submission for the grant contest, first started. When he began the program, he had many challenges to overcome and obstacles to face. “There were days when Bart was angry at the world and unwilling to move beyond an issue or concern. Nothing anyone could do or say appeared to help Bart move towards employment outside of TCH. Until his Job Coach committed time and dedication to focus on his success.” (as written on page 27 of the Phoenix Stories Insert in the Phoenix Business Journal).
With the support and tireless devotion of TCH, Bart was offered not one but two jobs on the same day! He chose to take a position with Aramark at the ASU Honors College dining hall.
To win this life-changing grant, TCH needs your vote! Voting ends on August 31 at 11:30 p.m., and you can vote here on the official website.
