The Tempe Healing Field is more than flags honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11. It is also a source of hope and reconciliation. 

One of the ways the Tempe Healing Field works to restore unity is through the Freedom Concert at Tempe Beach Park on Friday September 8th at 6:30 pm.  During this free event, local musicians perform patriotic songs to remind us that we are all Americans and we are better together.

We are honored to share a partial list of this years performers: 

Dr. Jesse R. McGuire, Sr. 

From humble beginnings as a nine year old nervously playing his first trumpet solo in church, Jesse overcame dyslexia to attain the position of “Lead trumpet” in the prestigious “Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra,” under the direction of Wynton Marsalis.

Jesse’s achievements are impressive and diverse. He’s performed with world-renowned artists, including: Tower of Power, Frankie Valli, Arturo Sandoval, James Brown, Andrae Crouch, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

Dr. McGuire’s latest recording, “ I Wish You Love,” is a collection of Classic jazz Vocal Songs, released on PowerTrump Records.

The Arizona Band Flotilla The Arizona Band Flotilla is the second U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary band. Chartered in January 2015, we support the U.S. Coast Guard and Auxiliary in boosting public awareness of the safe boating practices. In addition we honor veterans from all branches; provide dignity at memorial services for Auxiliarists and veterans; instill pride and patriotism in the community; and assist in recruiting, fellowship and retention efforts.

Valley Christian High School Choral The Chorale is comprised of the top singers at Valley Christian High School. The Chorale has performed in prestigious places such as Notre Dame Cathedral, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. They have performed through-out Europe, including performances in France, Germany and Poland. Stateside, the Chorale has performed in Arizona, California, Illinois, Michigan, Oregon, New York, Texas, Washington and the District of Columbia.  The Chorale has also produced a live album, “Live from the Music Hall”. Under the acclaimed direction of Marianne Heim, Valley Christian High School Chorale students pursue musicianship, excellence, leadership and servant-hood while bringing glory to Jesus Christ and being a joy to the community. The VCHS Chorale is accompanied by Joanna Banta.
