The city of Chandler’s famous Woofstock event returns this weekend, celebrating canines and all the fun and joy they bring to our lives!
On the morning of Saturday, November 19, hundreds of furry friends will take over Tumbleweed Park at the free event, and the entire family, including adults, children, and dogs are invited to join in the fun.
From 9 am to 1:30 pm, there will be a jam-packed schedule of tail waggin’ activities, including elite dog training demonstrations, Chandler Police Department K9 Unit Demonstrations, grand prize raffles, a service dog scavenger hunt, a performance by the Dance Company at San Tan Foothills, the Walk of Honor in salute of our veterans and much more.
In 2009, Woofstock was awarded the title of Outstanding Community Special Event presented by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association. Since then, the event has expanded each year, with more furry friends enjoying the fall sunshine with their beloved families and more local vendors and business taking part in the fun!
The Blazin K9s Flyball Racing Team will be on hand, demonstrating this exciting sport that is a relay race of sorts for dogs. In Flyball racing, a team of 4 dogs leap over 4 jumps to a “flyball” box, catch the ball and return over the four jumps. The first team to get all 4 dogs successfully returned to the starting point will be champions! It’s a fun bonding experience for the pooches and their owners, who encourage their dogs from the sidelines. Guests can see this unique sport in action at Woofstock.
Attendees can also check out Indy’s Run for Rescue, presented by Brittany Rescue AZ, which is a fun chase sport for dogs that takes them on a 50-yard enclosed course. Indy’s Run for Rescue is a fundraiser to help homeless rescue dogs. Families can pay for their dogs to participate, $6 for one run and $15 for three runs, with all proceeds benefiting Brittany Rescue AZ.
The city of Chandler partners with the American Service Animal Society and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control to present this special event.
