A man from Temecula, CA, has been arrested in connection with a string of recent wildfires that have sent shockwaves through the southern part of the state as residents are forced to evacuate and firefighters have to fight the flames for days on end.

32-year-old Brandon N. McGlover has been charged with intentionally setting nine fires, including the devastating Cranston Fire that has scorched upwards of 11,500 acres in the Idyllwild area of Riverside County.

Last Friday, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged McGlover with 15 felony counts related to nine different fires, including nine counts of arson of forest or wildland, five counts of arson of an inhabited structure and one count of aggravated arson. McGlover is facing a potential life sentence if convicted of all these charges. His bail has been set at $1 million.

Authorities say the Cranston Fire was started around noon on Wednesday. McGlover was later taken into custody for igniting several blazes.
