It might seem normal for most stores to be closed on Thanksgiving holiday, but definitely not the day after.
This year’s Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, Nov. 24 and the day after, which is a Friday, is Black Friday. On Black Friday, as has been the tradition, most stores offer promotional sales to their customers, ranging from discounts on purchases to other unusual offers. Black Friday, therefore begins the holiday shopping season and triggers people’s excitement towards the holiday season.
Even though most Phoenix local shops are not open on Thanksgiving, most shops, including those online, usually do not want to miss the opportunity to offer great sales to their customers, and Phoenix’s local boutiques are not left behind.
HUB Clothing, a Phoenix local boutique, will not be open on Thanksgiving but is having special sales for its customers this Black Friday. Peter Ferraro, HUB’s manager said there was going to a 20% discount on all items in the store. In addition to the special sales, Ferraro also said customers were also eligible to receive gift cards. “For every $250 or more purchase, a customer gets a 50 percent discount gift card that they can use in December”, Ferraro said.
HUB is a women and men’s boutique located on 5213 N Central Ave. Opened 25 years ago, HUB Clothing specializes in “remarkable denim and distinct apparel” and is known for being the introducers of clothing brands like Nudie, Rag & Bone, Naked & Famous, A.P.C. to the Phoenix market. “Our aim is for hubclothing.com to be a seamless experience on par with the exceptional level of service that our dedicated clientele receive in store,” according to HUB Clothing’s website.
Bunky Boutique, another Phoenix online and local boutique, located on 1437 N 1st St, is also offering special sales dubbed “Thanksgiveaways Weekends” to its customers, starting on Thanksgiving. Bunky’s sales starts from 11 a.m. Black Friday to Sunday, Nov. 27. During this period, Bunky will be giving away a “Bunky Box” every hour. Each “Bunky Box” contains “a one-of-a-kind assortment of goodies hand selected by the Bunky team, in categories ranging from cozy accessories, baby themed, men’s gifts, home goods, and more,” according to Rachel Malloy, owner of Bunky Boutique. Also, there’s going to be 15 percent discount on apparel for men, women, babies and kids throughout the weekend.
Designed by architect Hayes McNeil, Bunky opened in September 2007 and has, since then, specialized in providing soft cotton and lightweight clothing, fit for the Arizona climate. Customers have the choice to either visit the store in person or shop online.
Most Arizonans take Black Friday sales as an opportunity to do most of their clothing shopping, and also to prepare for the Christmas season ahead, especially because they get to purchase things at cheaper prices.
