
Bakersfield Police have arrested three people in connection with a murder that happened earlier this summer at a local motel.
On Monday, July 9, 2018, first responders were called to the Motel 6 at 1350 Easton Drive in south Bakersfield for reports of a shooting around midnight. Upon their arrival, they located Lazaro Gonzalez with life-threatening wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Now, more than a month later, three suspects are facing charges in his slaying. 49-year-old Maria Irene Stokes and 20-year-old Ryan Jesus Lopez Jr. are being charged with murder after being arrested on Thursday, August 30. Bakersfield Police Department officers identified 19-year-old Angel Reyes Aaron as another suspect, who has since been arrested and charged with being an accessory to the murder.
