Arizona managed to hold on for a huge victory over UCLA in an impressive showing.
Despite not having their starting quarterback and best running back, the Wildcats relied on some up-and-coming young athletes in key positions to get the job done. In his first career collegiate start, Grant Gunnell threw for 352 yards and a touchdown, a solid performance showing that the team can depend on him. The freshman completed 29 of 44 passes, while teammate Gary Brightwell scored on a 10-yard run to put his team up 20-17.
The Wildcats’ 20-17 win boosts their record to 3-1, with a 1-0 record in the Pac-12 conference. Quarterback Khalil Tate and running back J.J. Taylor sat out due to leg injuries.
