PHOENIX, Ariz. (Sept. 13, 2021): Walgreens is making it very easy to support AIDS Walk Arizona, the state’s largest gathering to support people living with HIV and raise community awareness.
For $1 at any Walgreens in the greater metropolitan area, you receive an AIDS Walk wrist band with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the event on Feb. 19, 2022.
“Walgreens continues its legacy of tremendous support for Aunt Rita’s Foundation and AIDS Walk Arizona this year by doubling their campaign to two weeks,” said Aunt Rita’s Foundation Executive Director Jimmy Thomason. “We are deeply grateful for this consistent and strong support and advocacy under this year’s theme, ‘When We Rise.’”
AIDS Walk Arizona 5K Walk and Runis Saturday, Feb. 19 at Tempe Beach Park, 250 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe. Registration begins at 1 p.m. with the Walk & Run starting at 3. Registration fees are $35 for virtual walkers, $45 for runners and walkers, $20 for student walkers (middle school, high school and college students with student IDs) and $10 for PAWS for the Cause for walkers and runners to bring their dogs. All proceeds benefit Aunt Rita’s 14 community partner agencies in Arizona providing critical HIV services including testing, treatment, behavioral health, housing and prevention, among many others.
Co-chairs for this year’s event are Regina Gazelle Wells, who overcame serious struggles with substance abuse to become a committed trans activist and advocate for trans individuals affected by homelessness, substance use and HIV, and Elijah Palles, whose drag stage name is Eddie Broadway and is Mr. Trans USA 2020.
