Art Detour 29 is returning, bigger and better than ever!
For the 29th year in a row, this signature arts and culture event will feature a dazzling array of activities showcasing the diversity of local artists and art venues. This celebration of the growing, vibrant Phoenix arts scene is expanding from two days to four days in 2017, and will kick off on Thursday, March 16, and run through Sunday, March 19th.
This year’s schedule boasts the 5th annual Art d’Core Gala, a special Third Friday Gallery Night, and an Art Detour weekend schedule of demonstrations, installations and more.
“One of the most important events in Phoenix’s calendar” according to City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, this event directly connects the public with local artists and creative souls in the community, and encourages conversation and inquiry about the arts.
The event is made possible thanks to the collaboration between artists, galleries, cultural venues and businesses offering their spaces for one-time exhibitions. Visitors are invited to witness the vital and diverse Phoenix arts community in many varied forms.
To kick off the weekend, the Art d’Core Gala will be held at Warehouse215 @ Bentley Projects in the heart of the emerging and dynamic Warehouse District in downtown Phoenix. This fun spin on a traditional “gala” annually spotlights the significant contribution of the arts in creating a dynamic, vibrant, flourishing city like Phoenix. This is a ticketed event and proceeds benefit Artlink Inc. Buy your tickets here.
ArtLink is the organization that started Phoenix’s famous First Fridays and Third Fridays, and Art Detour is an invitation to take a deeper dive into the arts community. Attendees can meet established and emerging artists in their own studios, participate in demonstrations and discussions, and view original works from a talented slate of Phoenix artists.
