Risas Dental and Braces, a dental care provider with a mission to change the way dentistry is offered, is proud to announce that Dr. Benjamin Zuniga has been named a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
This comprehensive certification – which consists of two examinations, one qualifying and one oral – is successfully completed by individuals who are committed to lifelong learning, keeping current in their knowledge and skills, and who practice dentistry in a safe and contemporary manner.
“Board Certification provides me with a distinction demonstrating that I not only possess the knowledge and experience required to practice in the specialty but also my commitment to it,” said Dr. Zuniga. “Maintaining board certification will keep me striving for continued growth and improvement, providing an even higher level of exceptional service to my patients at Risas.”
The American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) assures their Diplomates’ commitment to these goals by holding them accountable with their Certification Maintenance process, requiring each member to complete additional continuing education and testing over a subsequent 10-year period. This is designed to affirm a surgeon’s continued competency after certification and contains four areas of assessment such as professional standing, lifelong learning, cognitive expertise, and individual performance in their practice.
Zuniga completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University prior to receiving his dental degree (DDS) from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco in 2015 at which point he began his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut undergoing four years of training before graduating in 2019. He joined the Risas Dental and Braces team in 2019 providing services at the Risas Dental & Braces Oral Surgeon office, located at 442 West Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033.
