The Sun Devils will be taking on Saint Mary’s this season!
The men’s basketball team at Arizona State University will battle the Saint Mary’s Gaels in an out-of-conference game as part of this upcoming season.
While the specific location, date and time of the game have not yet been announced, the Sun Devils will be preparing to follow up on their 23-11 record last season, when they reached the NCAA Tournament. After winning over St. John’s in the First Four round, ASU’s run was ended with a loss to University of Buffalo.
While the Sun Devils will undoubtedly try and build on last season’s success, it is a new season, and they may lose out on some key players. Senior forward Zylan Cheatam and former freshman guard Lugentz Dort have both entered the NBA Draft and are predicted to be drafted to an NBA team.
St. Mary’s is also coming off a good year, having secured a 22-12 record and losing out in the first round of the tournament.
This special game will mark the second meeting between the two schools in history, with the first coming on New Year’s Eve 1954. ASU lost that game 87-82.
