UNITY Pledge Gains Three Major Signers
Three marquee Arizona businesses – Clear Channel Outdoor, Huss Brewing Company and iHeart Media – have signed the ONE Community UNITY Pledge in support of equal treatment in the workplace, housing, and public accommodations for all Arizonans, including gay and transgender Arizonans. The trio celebrated the signing of the pledge at the new Huss Brewery taproom on Central Avenue and Camelback with over 100 supporters.  They join nearly 2,500 businesses and organizations including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Professional Firefighters of Arizona, PetSmart, Yelp, Go Daddy, PayPal, Coca-Cola and others in support of a fully inclusive Arizona.

“The signing of this pledge represents the very fabric of who we are – our high standards and values as a company that always strives to treat everyone equally,” stressed Diane Veres, Regional President for Clear Channel Outdoor.

Currently, only five municipalities have ordinances that ban discrimination; however, Arizona has no statewide laws that protect LGBTQ individuals from being fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, or discriminated against in housing and public accommodations.

At iHeart we believe that inclusion is the right thing to do, but we also know that it’s good for business.  Inclusion means access to more talent, more ideas, more innovation and wider audiences, ” said Linda Little, President, Arizona Region, iHeart Media.

Created by ONE Community, a member-based coalition of LGBTQ and allied individuals and businesses; the UNITY Pledge is a public declaration to support and advance workplace equality and non-discrimination policies in housing and public accommodations for LGBTQ individuals and their allies in Arizona.

“At Huss Brewing, we encourage and try to inspire people to be who they are, no matter their background or who they happen to love.  Beer doesn’t discriminate, and neither do we,” stated Leah Huss, founder and co-owner of Huss Brewing Company.

“We are honored and humbled that such powerful and prolific leaders in our community value each and every person by promoting equality for all. Their collective support of inclusion and fairness improves the quality of life for everyone in our beautiful state – and we are grateful,” said Angela Hughey, President of ONE Community.
