A University of Arizona football player is due back in court Thursday morning following his September arrest.
Scottie Sheldon Young Jr. is scheduled to face a judge in Pima County Justice Court for his arraignment hearing.
The freshman safety faces one charge of misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend at a residence hall. Police say the freshman safety threw a laptop and reportedly spit on his girlfriend during an argument outside his dorm room. She was also taken into custody and faces a charge of domestic violence assault with no injury.
Following the incident, the university’s department of athletics released a statement, acknowledging the two arrests.
