Tucson Family Displaced After Porch Fire

A local family has been displaced following a fire on their back porch.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a residence on 100 W. Knox Drive, not far from North Stone Avenue. Tucson fire crews arrived around 1:48 p.m. to find thick smoke and flames coming from the porch.

A woman and her two children made it out safely after smelling smoke, and it took firefighters approximately 16 minutes to put out the flames, which had spread from the back porch to a nearby shed and surrounding bushes.

The family’s dog also escaped unhurt, according to a press release, which also said that although the flames did not damage the home’s interior, the family will be displaced. The Red Cross of Southern Arizona will be assisting the family during this time as investigators continue their investigation.
