Queen Elisabeth gold medalist pianist Jeffrey Swann returns with Trio Combray to perform Sunday, Dec. 10, 2:30 p.m. at the Tempe Center for the Arts sponsored by Northern Trust.

Oberlin professor of violin, Gregory Fulkerson, and cellist Jeffrey Solow, international performer and two-time Grammy nominee, complete the trio.

The musicians will perform a concert inspired by Marcel Proust’s masterpiece “Remembrance of Things Past” on the Hayden’s Ferry Chamber Music Series.

“The book is rich in musical reference,” says Catherine Hayden, series producer, “and Proust scholar Jeffrey Swann will describe the pieces and how they relate to the book,”

The program includes: Ernest Alder Fantasy from “Lohengrin”; Claude Debussy Sonata for Cello and Piano; Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano; and Guillaume Lekeu Piano Trio in C minor.

A native of Northern Arizona, pianist Jeffrey Swann is the first prize winner of the Dino Ciani Competition sponsored by La Scala; winner of Young Concert Artists; and an international performer. He has played with major symphonies in the United States and around the world.

Swann moved to Texas at a young age and studied with Alexander Uninsky at Southern Methodist University and later with Beveridge Webster and Adele Marcus at The Juilliard School. He is currently on the piano faculty at New York University. Since 2007 he has been the Adel Artist-in-Resident at Northern Arizona University and participates in other international festivals.

Individual adult $30 ticket includes wine reception with artists after concert. $10 student ticket with ID. Service fees apply.

Tickets on sale now at TCA Box Office, online at or 480.350.2822.

Future series concerts: January 21, 2018, featuring Benjamin Baker, violin with Daniel Lebhardt, piano; March 18, Julia Bullock, soprano with John Arida, piano; and April 22, the Jupiter String Quartet.
