Tempe residents encouraged to take survey for Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Help us shape the future of city parks and recreation offerings in Tempe! The city is updating its Parks and Recreation Master Plan to create standards for park amenities, sports fields, equipment and recreation programming. Residents and community members are encouraged to take an online survey to provide input that will help shape the plan. The survey is open now through the end of June and can be completed at tempe.gov/parks.

In-person meetups will also take place at some city facilities to gather feedback. Click here for meetup dates and times.

Public input from the survey will help guide the master plan to ensure it reflects the needs and desires of the community. After the public input process is complete, a draft plan will be created, followed by a public meeting to gather feedback. The draft master plan will be taken to Tempe City Council in early 2020 for adoption.

The master planning process includes extensive research and analysis into how Tempe’s parks and recreation programs are used today. It will also include an inventory of existing assets and an assessment of current programming.  A consultant was hired to conduct the research and develop the master plan.
