WHO: Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) and Tempe Police Department
WHAT: Tempe Community Action Agency and the Tempe Police Department have come together for the first-ever Take a Bite Out of Hunger Food Drive. Starting Monday, May 14, three Tempe police stations will host an internal food drive to benefit TCAA’s Food Pantry. Simultaneously, TCAA will be collecting community donations for the Take a Bite Out of Hunger Food Drive at their office location on Apache Blvd.
The TCAA Food Pantry benefits more than 11,000 adults and children in crisis each year. Donations tend to decline for most food pantries during late summer—this is a time when community support is greatly needed. Any non-perishable foods—especially canned and high protein items are welcomed.
“The Tempe Police Department is committed to serving all members of our community in this very important endeavor to end hunger,” said Tempe Police Department Public Information Officer, Lily Duran.
The Take a Bite Out of Hunger Food Drive is an excellent opportunity for the community and the Tempe Police Department to work together to support families in need and be a part of an essential movement to help fight hunger.

WHY: Eighty percent of the food that is distributed to people in need from TCAA’s Food Pantry is sourced from community donations. The TCAA Food Pantry is a key resource for thousands of local children, seniors and families and the donations made throughout this food drive will help bring the community together while supporting those in need.
