Tempe Chamber Hosts Hot Topics + Breakfast

Tempe Chamber Hosts Hot Topics + Breakfast
Hot Topics returns as a breakfast program, and we kick it off with our past winners of the Business Woman of the Year award.

Join us as we hear from outstanding women in business as they share their experiences as business owners, as community leaders and as mothers and wives. These amazing women will have a conversation about what it takes to succeed in life and business as they share stories about their lives and experiences.

Our roundtable will include:

Dawn Hocking

Dawn Hocking, 2017 Winner
Dawn is the reigning Business Woman of the Year. She serves as the Director of Development for The Centers for Habilitation (TCH). Having worked for the organization for more than 26 years, she has dedicated her life to the Tempe community and looks for opportunities daily to make a difference in the lives of others through her work. She takes on a variety of roles and challenges associated with a non-profit but still values the reward of seeing the joy on her client’s faces. Hocking is an alumna of Tempe Leadership and is currently the Chair of the Tempe Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Robin Trick

Robin Trick, 2012 Winner
Robin, the 2012 Business Woman of the Year, is the co-owner of House of Tricks, a popular restaurant nestled between ASU and Mill Ave. In addition to running a highly successful business, Robin currently serves on the boards of the Tempe Tourism Office (past chair) and Temple Emanuel of Tempe, her place of worship. Robin was involved with the building of the Tempe Center for the Arts from its inception in 1998 and served on the board of the Friends of TCA for many years. She has had leadership roles on the boards of numerous business and cultural organizations including Tempe Municipal Arts Commission, Downtown Tempe Community, and Mill Avenue Merchants Association, to name a few. She continues to serve on the Valley Metro Regional Art Committee, which has selected the art projects for the light rail stations through the valley.

Julie Jakubek

Julie Jakubek, 2006 Winner
Julie was the 2006 recipient of the Business Woman of the Year award. Having been involved with Allstate and in the real estate business for over 20 years, she followed in the footsteps of her father who was an Allstate agent for 34 years. She owns her own agency in Phoenix and is heavily involved with the business community throughout the Valley. She has been on the board of directors for the Arizona Council of Economic Education (ACEE) for the past five years. Also, I am a member of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and the Phoenix Better Business Bureau. She gives her support to several other local nonprofits, including St. Mary’s Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul, to help underprivileged citizens that have fallen on hard times.

Lori Zurcher, past chair of the Women in Business Council, will moderate the discussion.
