Officials say the suspect in a shooting near Apache Junction has been apprehended in New Mexico.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Officials confirmed the news Wednesday that 39-year-old Darren Franklin had been arrested near Albuquerque by New Mexico State Police.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an Apache County-area home in the early hours of Monday morning. The property is located in an unincorporated part of the county, about a mile west of Apache Junction city limits. There, they found 39-year-old Gilbert Hale suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Surveillance video and other evidence pointed authorities to Johnston.
