It’s time for another edition of Story Slam!
Story Slam 4.3 will focus on “Thanks” and “PineStories Shorts” as local storytellers rise to the occasion on Sunday, November 5 from 4 to 6 pm at Firecreek Coffee Company.
This competitive, nonfiction storytelling event gives individuals the chance to speak in front of a crowd and share their message. Broken up into two parts, the first half will be a traditional story slam featuring four storytellers themed around “Thanks.”Each storyteller will be challenged to share their story in less than 12 minutes from memory. Following a short intermission, they will move on to “PineStories Shorts” – a five minute rapid-fire storytelling format.
For those who wish to participate in the “Thanks” portion of the event, please send a Facebook message to Pinestories Story Slam or an email to [email protected] with their story pitch in 140 characters or less. Only four storyteller slots are available, and they fill up fast, so those interested are encouraged to reach out soon.
Judges will be chosen before the show and they will submit their anonymous scores at the end of the event. Winners will be announced at the end of the show, and each winner is eligible to compete at the Pinestories Grandslam at the end of the season for prizes!
The event is $2 unless you’re telling a story or volunteering. Volunteers are always appreciated to help with the door and tallying scores. Please send an email to [email protected] to sign up to volunteer.
Firecreek Coffee Company is located at 22 E. Route 66.
