(April 19, 2022) Pow! Bam! Kerplunk! On Tuesday, May 10, Valley residents can eat well while helping a great cause, the Colten Cowell Foundation, and its mission to help sick kids feel like superheroes. To celebrate the restaurant’s 73rd anniversary, Miracle Mile Deli, located on 16th Street and Campbell in Central Phoenix, is donating a portion of the proceeds from all sales on Tuesday, May 10, to this incredible nonprofit organization that creates a life changing experience for special children.

“The work done at the Colten Cowell Foundation holds a special place in my heart,” said Josh Garcia, Vice President of Miracle Mile Deli. “My daughter enjoyed the superhero experience with the Foundation years ago and still talks about it to this day. To be able to help an acutely ill child forget about their illness – even if its for just a few hours – means the world to me & our Miracle Mile Family.”

Garcia is a third-generation operator of his family’s restaurant. Miracle Mile Deli was founded by Garcia’s grandfather, Jack Grodzinsky in 1949. The historic Valley restaurant prides itself on being an integral part of the community, treating customers like family and serving the best pastrami sandwiches in the Southwest. The New York-style delicatessen has been recognized for its award-winning pastrami sandwiches, brisket of beef sandwiches, corned beef sandwiches and other East Coast delicacies.

The Colten Cowell Foundation is a Valley nonprofit organization that makes giving fun and accessible by creating more smiles and laughter for kids and families. Every part of the organization’s crime-fighting experience is tailor-made to make the nominated child feel special. Activities include superhero gadget interaction, one-of-a-kind vehicles to explore and ride, not to mention a tour of a real-life, underground Batcave!

“We designed the Superhero Experience to benefit the entire family,” said Charles Keller, Colten Cowell Foundation chairman and founder. “For the children, they get to forget that they are sick and simply enjoy being a kid. For the parents, this is an evening to momentarily let go of their worries and share the pure joy with their children. In the end, memories are all we have, and the best are the ones that we get to share with the people that we love.”
