Sojourner Center Establishes Stuart Lazar Lifetime Ambassador Award

The award recognizes those who go above and beyond to support the Sojourner Center.

Sojourner Center recently honored long-time supporter and organization ambassador Stuart Lazar with the creation of the Stuart Lazar Lifetime Ambassador Award.

The award, introduced at Lazar’s 70th birthday party, celebrates the dedication of individuals who work with Sojourner Center and recognizes those who go above and beyond in their support and contributions for the center and Arizona women and children rebuilding after domestic violence.

The award was unveiled with more than 100 guests in attendance, including Sojourner Center staff, board members, friends and family. In nearly 30 years, Lazar has introduced over 500 individuals, families and businesses to Sojourner Center for services and partnerships. He has been involved with Sojourner Center as an advocate, ambassador and volunteer. Lazar has also regularly donated to the center over the years.

“The award will recognize outstanding individuals involved with Sojourner Center who support the mission of providing resources and a safe haven for women and children in Arizona who are impacted by domestic violence,” says Gordon Sims, the director of philanthropy at Sojourner Center. “Lazar will be directly involved with the yearly award, working with Sojourner Center to choose the next recipient of the award.”

Lazar grew up in Oxford Circle, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and during his lifetime he has gained success in both the fashion and insurance industries. Lazar is also an avid supporter and advocate for The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and recently elected as President of the Grand Canyon State Caucus, always encouraging the benefits of a strong Israel-American relationship. Lazar is the son of the late Sid Lazar and wife, Doris. He is married to Susan (Chu) of Phoenix.
