Snow Headed for Flagstaff By End of Week

A fresh snowfall is forecast to arrive in Flagstaff just in time for numerous winter and holiday celebrations taking place this weekend.

Most recent radar forecasts predict Flagstaff and surrounding areas will see 1-3 inches of snow on Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service, Flagstaff will experience unseasonably warm temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday before a cold front moves through the region.

Predictions show that the snow will stay above 7,500 to 8,500 feet on Friday afternoon, and locals could experience wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph before the cold front arrives on Friday night. By Saturday morning, snow levels will fall rapidly, with areas of elevation between 4,000 and 5,000 feet seeing precipitation. Flagstaff is expected to see up to 3 inches, while areas above 8,500 feet could see up to a foot of snow.

By Saturday afternoon, clear and cold conditions will return. Flagstaff can expect daytime highs in the 30s through early next week. Depending on the snowfall, winter driving conditions may occur on Friday night and Saturday morning.
With the holidays drawing closer, the snow will add a nice touch for the many family events taking place this weekend in Flagstaff, including the Polar Express Train Ride and the Snowflake Festival.
