The City of Tempe is working on a Kiwanis Park Management Plan that will provide guidelines for future programming, amenities, facilities and operational needs of the park and recreation center. The community is invited to attend a public meeting to review the draft management plan and provide feedback. Staff will provide a project update, present the plan, and answer questions. There are two meeting options; information will be the same at both.
· Saturday, Dec. 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (presentations at Noon and 1 p.m.)
· Monday, Dec. 9, 5:30-7:30 p.m. (presentations at 6 and 7 p.m.)
Both meetings will be held at Kiwanis Recreation Center, 6111 S. All-America Way.
A public input process, including a survey and focus groups, was held last summer. That information was used to help guide the draft management plan to ensure it reflects the needs and desires of the community.
The management planning process includes extensive research and analysis into how Kiwanis Park and the recreation center are used today. It will also include an inventory of existing assets and an assessment of current programming. A consultant was hired to conduct the research and develop the management plan.
The Kiwanis Park Management Plan is underway concurrently with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which will identify a long-term vision for all of Tempe’s parks and recreation programs. The Kiwanis Park Management plan will complement the larger, citywide parks vision.
