Drivers wishing to park in downtown Flagstaff should be aware that the new parking system will be in effect next week.
According to city of Flagstaff officials, paid parking in the downtown area will begin on Friday, October 6.
While visitors and employees downtown may notice the newly installed, unwrapped parking meters in the area, they will not function properly for another two weeks. Some of the meters may have displayed a notice saying they will be active on October 1, but that is inaccurate and will be corrected.
Once the meters go live and become active, there will be a minimum 60-day “soft opening” in which warnings will be given in lieu of tickets to violators. Parking will cost $1 per hour in metered spaces, and more information about the new parking system can be found on the Park Flag website.
