We all have that one place that we must frequent on the regular due to the amazing happy hour prices, kick-ass food, and let us not forget – your favorite cocktail of choice. With a variety of western-infused menu items, look no further than Roaring Fork to settle our American cravings and margarita must-haves.
The Roaring Fork, located on Scottsdale Road and Chaparral has been around for years. So long honestly that I have been going there since at least the age of 6 – that’s quite some time if I do say so myself. Not only has the decoration and ambiance not changed in the past 20 years, but the menu hasn’t either – and it’s one of the many reasons why people keep coming back year after year. Some people may not be a fan of a solid, keepsake menu, but I beg to differ. There is nothing like having that one place where you have your staple item and you KNOW, regardless of the time of year or if it’s 4 years post your last visit, it will still be on the menu. To that, I say, cheers!
In terms of menu items, this place does not disappoint (Ijust hope you’re not vegetarian, if so – unfortunately, this may not be the place for you). My personal favorites of happy hour menu items are as follows:
Big Ass Burger: It’s enough for 2, trust me on that (unless you’re absolutely famished)! When they say Big Ass burger they mean a huge-ass burger topped with all your favorite fix-ins.
Caesar Salad: Never disappoints and the dressing is made in-house with anchovies added as an option. Truly an oldie but a goodie!
Queso con Puerco: Basically a classic take on queso dip but just that much better! Don’t forget to add in the green chili pork or else you’re doing yourself a disservice.
Hot Chicken Sandwich: This actually, contrary to popular belief, is a newer item compared to the others. Trust me when I say it does not disappoint either – picture a crunchy, tender, and delicious fried chicken breast, topped with homemade hot sauce, coleslaw, and a pickle. If that doesn’t make your mouth water then get out of town!
Lastly, my all-time favorite and also why many other guests frequently visit this humble establishment:
Green Chili Pork: Picture delicious and tender pork meat, steeping in a bath of yummy, yet spicy green chili sauce. Now add this amazing concoction into a homemade, warm, flour tortilla and you got yourself one of the best duos of all time!
Now, let’s talk about that margarita you know everyone is raving about! If you’re not quite sure what I’m referring to let me refresh your memory – it’s called the Huckleberry Margarita. And it is oh-so-good! By so good, I mean so f*cking good! Picture this – a frozen margarita, made with the right ratio of lime, triple sec, tequila, and simple syrup. Then add in that homemade huckleberry swirl to really give the western twist on a refreshing cocktail. The best part is they’re only $7 on the happy hour menu (if that’s not a steal then I don’t know what is)! Let’s not forget there are also endless cocktails to choose from such as the spicy jalapeno or peach marg, martinis, “adult” Arnold Palmer’s, and more.
As you can probably sense by now, I’m a big fan of this place. And having grown up coming here it just grows on me year after year. Appreciation is all I can say of it and I hope you feel that same way too when visiting. Happy ordering and enjoy!
