Noah Webster Schools is proud to introduce the 2020-2021 Students Council members for both our Mesa and Scottsdale campuses.  This year’s vote was historic as the initial election resulted in a tie for the president positions at each campus and a tie for the vice president position at the Mesa campus.  A tiebreaker vote was held to determine the winner for each office.

Leading up to the election, Noah Webster 5th & 6th grade students were encouraged to throw their hat in the ring for the office they were interested in.  The students understood the criteria to be met in order to become a council member.  The students running for office were required to maintain an overall grade average of 75% or higher, demonstrate good character throughout the school year and submit a letter of recommendation from their homeroom teacher.

Once online applications were submitted, staff advisors determined which applicants had met the criterion and could move on to the next phase of the election process.  The qualifying students were given one week to campaign for their sought-after positions.  When the campaign drew to a close, the candidates were required to present a two-minute speech to their fellow classmates during the campaign assemblies, which were followed immediately by the elections.  As the year progresses, class representatives will be added to the council, per recommendation by homeroom teachers.

Noah Webster understands the importance of Student Council as an opportunity to acquire leadership experience, learn the details of fundraising and gain customer service skills by assisting with student and family events. The council leads by example for the entire student body by being a positive influence and maintaining good character on and off of campus.  Additional responsibilities include attending council meetings, making morning announcements to the entire school, overseeing and hosting Pep Assemblies and working together in promoting events, such as school and community Fundraisers.

Congratulations to the officers of our 2020-2021 Student Council!
