MESA, Arizona – June 16, 2016 – Mesa Community College is pleased to announce Michael Voss as its Dean for Career and Technical Education. He assumed his duties on June 16.
Voss, a first generation college student originally from Minnesota, comes to MCC with more than a decade experience at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). He served CNM as faculty, faculty chair, program director and managed career and technical programs on four of the college’s five campuses.
Passionate about career and technical education Voss looks forward to making sure students’ educational experience prepares them to successfully enter or get ahead in the workforce.
“One of my goals is to give you the best prepared person and minimize the amount of time on the job training that needs to happen to get them to be a real productive unit,” said Voss. “I think data and metrics talk.”
Voss’ career and technical teaching experience spans community college, university, and industry settings in both metro and rural environments. His administrative experience includes serving as an associate dean and faculty chair for career and technical programs in the medical, dental, fire science and veterinary fields.
An Army Reservist, Voss used the GI Bill to obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science from CNM. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Services from the University of New Mexico. After serving seventeen years as a paramedic/firefighter Voss pursued a career in higher education, earning a Master of Arts in Education Administration from New Mexico State University.
The Voss family, Michael, his wife and their two children, are currently relocating to Arizona.
