Mesquite Fresh Street Mex to Break Ground on Laveen Location, Announces 2024 Plans

PHOENIX – Mesquite Fresh Street Mex, a modern Mexican grab-and-go brand operating nine Valley locations, will break ground on its Laveen location at 56th Ave. and Baseline Road in May 2024 as part of its planned expansion into West Valley communities. This construction is the latest in Mesquite’s continued growth across the Phoenix metropolitan area, and in response to high consumer demand, the brand also began building a Tolleson location at 405 N 99th Ave. in November 2023. The Tolleson property is estimated to open during Q3 of 2024 and will feature a 2,000-square-foot space with a covered outdoor patio, drive-thru and take-out window. Following the upcoming groundbreaking, Mesquite’s Laveen location is projected to open in Q4 of 2024.  

 “We chose to open in Laveen and Tolleson due to the rapid expansion of these communities, coupled with customer feedback from our existing locations,” said Naser Alatrash, co-founder of Mesquite Fresh Street Mex. “Any time we identify a growing area, we seek to spread Mesquite’s name there and contribute to a community’s popularity and desirability with one of our restaurants.”

Alatrash and his brother, Ahmad, founded Mesquite Fresh Street Mex in 2016 as a walk-up taco stand located in Old Town Scottsdale’s entertainment district. Since its creation, the concept has seen success in the opening of sit-down and drive-thru locations throughout the Valley, with its most recent grand opening rebranding from Speedy’s Street Tacos at 4002 E Washington St. in Phoenix last year on April 29, 2023.  

Looking beyond the Tolleson and Laveen properties under construction (which will bring the brand’s total number of restaurants to 11), Mesquite Fresh Street Mex will continue to expand into the West Valley within the next few years.  

Mesquite Fresh Street Mex focuses on incorporating the highest quality ingredients, prepared fresh daily, into every dish. The menu features authentic street tacos, killer burritos, packed protein bowls, big quesadillas, frescas and family meal kits. All proteins are cooked over Mesquite’s signature custom-built grill, which utilizes real mesquite wood chips to give meat a unique and smoky flavor.
