Meeting the Needs of Women Veterans and Families

Veterans and their families soon will be moving into a first-of-its kind affordable housing development in Tempe – one that will provide useful programs, a true sense of community and a safe place to call home. Valor on 8th is a collaboration among the City of Tempe, Save the Family, developer Gorman & Company and the Arizona Department of Housing.

Located at 1001 E. Eighth St., Valor on 8th will feature 50 rental units, including five market-rate live/work units. In addition, the City of Tempe’s Housing Authority has awarded the development with 15 project-based vouchers to support low to moderate income families.

Community space within the building will promote indoor recreation and room for the Save the Family Foundation and other veteran’s service agencies to provide social and financial services, counseling and career development for the residents. There also will be a playground, open-air courtyard and community garden. With its proximity to Arizona State University and city amenities, residents can walk or bike to their destinations and are within easy distance to transit services.

Valor on 8th is scheduled to open in January, 2018. Anyone interested in living at Valor on 8th should contact Elena Wyatt at (480) 486-6688.
