Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton made an announcement about his future in politics.
Stanton will run for the Congressional District 9 seat, currently held by Rep. Krysten Sinema, who recently announced her own political intentions. She plans to run for Senate against Senator Jeff Flake.
In a video from his campaign site, Stanton said, “I’m running for Congress because we deserve better than we’re getting.”
Stanton took office in Phoenix City Hall in 2012. Prior to that, he served on the City Council and as Arizona’s Deputy Attorney General.
As of now, Daniel Valenzuela has announced his run for mayor of Phoenix. He is a current City of Phoenix council member.
