Local School Warns Parents of Luring Attempts

School officials at Westwood Elementary in Phoenix have warned parents about reports of strangers attempting to lure students from their homes.

Three separate incidents have occurred in the last three weeks, including one on Monday, April 15th when a man posing as a teacher knocked on a family’s door and said he was there to bring their daughter to school.

The individual in this incident is described as a tall, chubby Hispanic man with a beard and glasses. He was speaking Spanish as well.

Because of these alarming incidents, school officials have taken action and delivered a warning to concerned parents.

A letter sent to all parents within the school district provided details on the incident and confirmed that the school does not send teachers to homes to bring kids to school.

The two other incidents involved separate men attempting to convince students walking on their way to or from school to get in their vehicles. Letters were also sent regarding these incidents in an effort to keep families and kids safe and aware of what’s going on.

One of these incidents reportedly involved an Asian man in his early 30s behind the wheel of a white truck with the word “Royal” emblazoned on the back. The other involved a man with brown skin and black/brown hair who was wearing black gloves with red palms while driving a two-door tan sedan with a black grill.

School officials have reported all of these alarming incidents to police, and parents are being encouraged to speak to their kids about “stranger danger” and call police if anything suspicious arises.
